Career
Mathias Joggi began his career in the youth team at EHC Biel . From 2001 he played for the Elita-A-Juniors and became Swiss Junior Champion with them in 2001. In the 2003/04 season he made his debut in the men's team of his club and won the National League B championship title at the end of the season . The team repeated this success two years later, but failed in the promotion games to Friborg-Gottéron . Joggi contributed 22 scorer points in 15 playoff games to the championship, making him the third best scorer of his team behind two Canadian players and the best Swiss player in the playoffs.
Between 2006 and 2009 he was in the SCL Tigers under contract and played for them in the National League A . In these three years he always missed the playoffs with the Tigers and instead had to fight for non-relegation in the playouts.
At the Spengler Cup 2007 he was a guest player for HC Pardubice . At the end of the 2008/09 season, his contract with the Tigers expired and many teams tried to sign Joggi. In the end, Joggi decided on HC Davos , where he is under contract until 2012. In April 2011 he became Swiss champion with HC Davos .
In the 2011/12 season Joggi was increasingly used on the defensive for lack of a defender until Arno del Curto completely repurposed him. Since then Joggi has mainly played as a defender.
After the 2012/13 season Joggi decided to move to North America, but did not receive a contract there and therefore decided in December 2013 to return to EHC Biel.
International
Mathias Joggi has represented his home country two Junior World Championships so far . At the U18 Junior World Championship 2004, Division I , he made it to the top division of the World Championship with the U18 selection. Two years later at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2006 , he finished seventh with his team. In addition, with seven scorer points, he was one of the ten best scorers in the U20 world championships.
He has also played three international matches for the men's national team so far, but has not made it into a World Cup squad.
