The Swiss national ice hockey team is a selection of Swiss ice hockey players who represent the Swiss ice hockey association on an international level. The players are sometimes called "ice cream comrades".
Patrick Fischer has been the national team's head coach since December 2015 . Mathias Seger ( ZSC Lions ) is the current record national player.
At the 2013 World Cup in Sweden and Finland, Switzerland reached the final against Sweden after nine wins and a 3-0 semi-final victory against the USA . Despite the 1: 5 defeat in the final, this meant the greatest success since the first participation in the finals at the World Cup in 1935. At the World Cup in Denmark in 2018 , Switzerland reached the final again, in which they were defeated 2: 3 by the same opponent. In the world rankings, the team is currently (as of May 2018) in seventh place.
