The Dutch national ice hockey team is organized by the Dutch Ice Hockey Federation (Nederlandse IJshockey Bond (NIJB)), which it represents at international level; for example in the Ice Hockey World Championship the IIHF or the Winter Olympics . Your squad is mostly made up of players from the Eredivisie , the highest Dutch ice hockey league.

After the 2017 World Cup, the men's team is ranked 28th in the IIHF world rankings and is currently playing in Division I, Group B at world championships . After structural reforms in the World Championships, Group B corresponds to the 3rd division in international men's Ice Hockey.

In 1935 the team took part in an ice hockey world championship for the first time, but the Netherlands have not yet won a medal. The Dutch last took part in an A-World Cup in 1981 . In 1980 , the Bond team took part in the Olympic Games for the first time with Dick Decloe .

In the 2010 World Cup , the Dutch team finished fourth in the domestic Tilburg discharged Group A Division I. The biggest success of the recent Association history was the participation in the final qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 , which from 7 to 10 February was held. In addition to the Netherlands, Italy, Austria and Germany, which are far higher in the world rankings, took part in this qualification, the winner of which Austria qualified for the 2014 Olympic ice hockey tournament. Previously, the Netherlands had prevailed in the pre-qualification against the favored Hungarians 6: 5 after penalty shootouts as well as the selections of Lithuania and Croatia and in this way achieved the nomination for the final tournament. At the tournament in Bietigheim, the Dutch selection lost all three games, but with quite respectable results given the performance gap in this group. At the World Cup of Division I, Group B (about 3rd international division) in 2013, the good results could be confirmed and won the bronze medal behind Ukraine and Poland. At the 2015 home World Cup in Eindhoven, however, the Dutch had to accept relegation to Division II for the first time since the introduction of the division system in 2001. In the following year, however, he was immediately promoted to Division I, and in the following year he was relegated to Division II.
