The Serbian-Montenegrin national ice hockey team represented Serbia and Montenegro (until September 2003 Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) at international ice hockey competitions from 1995 to 2006 .

history

The Serbian-Montenegrin national ice hockey team started playing for the 2005 World Cup in the C-WM and succeeded the Yugoslav national ice hockey team, which had also been dissolved three years earlier in the course of the dissolution of the SFR Yugoslavia . In this tournament, the team finished eighth in the C-WM and was relegated to the D-WM, but due to the lower total number of participants compared to the later world championships, 28th place in the overall ranking was the best World Cup placement in the country. For the 1998 World Cup , the team returned to the C-World Cup (from 2001 World Cup Division II) and played in this until the state of Serbia and Montenegro was dissolved, with the 1999 World Cup being suspended.

As the successor team, the Serbian national ice hockey team has been taking part in competitions of the International Ice Hockey Federation since 2007 . Montenegro has not yet formed a national team (as of January 2011) .
