history

After the Irish Ice Hockey Association was accepted into the International Ice Hockey Federation in May 1996 , Ireland initially only participated in U18 and U20 World Championships from 2001 onwards , before the premiere in international senior ice hockey followed in 2004 . With the second place in the tournament of Division III in 2007 , the promotion from the lowest division succeeded for the first time. In the following year, however, the immediate decline followed. Even after being promoted in 2010 , the team got down again a year later. In 2012 and 2013, the promotion to Division II was missed. Following the closure of the Dundalk Ice Dome , Ireland could no longer meet the minimum requirements for participation in World Championships.

In 2017 , Ireland competed in the newly founded Development Cup and finished second. At the Development Cup 2018 they took third place.
