The 68th Men's World Championships in 2004 of the IIHF took place on the following dates and in the following locations.

World Championship: April 24th to May 9th in Prague and Ostrava ( Czech Republic )
Division I, Group A: 12. bis 18th April in Oslo ( Norway )
Division I, Group B: April 12th to 18th in Gdansk ( Poland )
Division II, Group A: April 12th to 18th in Jaca ( Spain )
Division II, Group B: 12. bis 18th April in Elektrėnai ( Lithuania )
Division III: 16th bis 21st March in Reykjavik ( Iceland )

A total of 45 teams took part in these world championships, which meant a new participation record.

The 9th Women's Ice Hockey World Championships in 2004 took place as follows:

World Championship: March 30th to April 6th, 2004 in Halifax and Dartmouth ( Canada )
Division I: 14. bis 20th March 2004 in Ventspils ( Latvia )
Division II: 14. bis 20th March 2004 in Sterzing ( Italy )
Division III: 21 to 28. March 2004 in Maribor ( Slovenia )

A total of 27 teams took part in these women's world championships.

The 28th U20 Junior World Championship took place in 2004 as follows:

World Championship: December 26, 2003 to January 5, 2004 in Helsinki and Hämeenlinna ( Finland )
Division I, Group A: 14. bis 20th December 2003 in Berlin ( Germany )
Division I, Group B: 13. bis 19th December 2003 in Briancon ( France )
Division II, Group A: December 28, 2003 to January 3, 2004 in Sosnowiec ( Poland )
Division II, Group B: 5. bis 11. January 2004 in Kaunas and Elektrėnai ( Lithuania )
Division III: January 5th to 11th, 2004 in Sofia ( Bulgaria )

A total of 40 teams took part.

The 6th U18 Junior World Championship was held this year as follows:

World Championship: April 8th to 18th, 2004 in Minsk ( Belarus )
Division I, Group A: March 27 to April 2, 2004 in Amstetten ( Austria )
Division I, Group B: March 29 to April 4, 2004 in Asiago ( Italy )
Division II, Group A: March 28 to April 3, 2004 in Debrecen ( Hungary )
Division II, Group B: 1. bis 7. March 2004 in Kaunas and Elektrėnai ( Lithuania )
Division III: 6. bis 14. March 2004 in Sofia ( Bulgaria )

A total of 41 teams took part.
