Ice Hockey World Championship 2013

The ice hockey world championships in 2013 were organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation in five different age and gender categories. A total of 29 tournaments were held in all divisions.

Men's World Cup

The 77th Men's Ice Hockey World Championship took place from May 3rd to 19th, 2013 in Stockholm , Sweden and Helsinki , Finland . Originally the tournament was awarded to Sweden, the country prevailed at the IIHF half-year conference on September 21, 2007 in Vancouver with 70 of 96 votes against the competitors Belarus (15 votes), Hungary (8) and the Czech Republic (3) . Latvia withdrew its candidacy prior to the vote and supported the Swedish bid. In the years before, Sweden was in the allocation of the 2010 World Championships, Failed in 2011 and 2012 . At the IIHF annual meeting in Switzerland in 2009 , IIHF, Finland and Sweden announced that the two countries would host the 2012 and 2013 tournaments together.

The finals of the 37th U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship took place in Ufa , Russia .

The final round of the 15th World Ice Hockey Championship U18 juniors place from 18 to 28 April 2013 in the Russian Sochi instead.

Women's World Cup

The final round of the Women 16 Ice Hockey World Championship took place from 2 to 9 April 2013 in the Canadian Ottawa instead. The IIHF announced the award of the tournament to Canada at the 2009 annual conference in Switzerland ; in May 2011 Hockey Canada decided to host the tournament in Ottawa.
