The 14th ice hockey world championship and 25th ice hockey European championship took place as the first after the Second World War from February 15 to 23, 1947 in Prague , Czechoslovakia . Eight teams took part, but record world champions Canada were missing . The world champion was first determined in league games. The World Cup ended with Czechoslovakia winning the first title . This success also meant the seventh European title for the Czechoslovaks. The most successful goalscorer was the Czechoslovak Vladimír Zábrodský with 29 goals, the Austrians won the Fair Play trophy.
