Hilary Skarżyński

Hilary Skarżyński (born June 18, 1925 in Katowice , † September 30, 1987 in Miami Beach , Florida , USA ) was a Polish ice hockey player .

Career

Hilary Skarżyński began his career as a hockey player with RKS Siła Giszowiec, for which he was active from 1945 to 1946. He then played for two years for HKS Siemianowiczance and one year for Stal Katowice and most recently from 1949 to 1958 for Górnik Katowice . With the latter he won the Polish championship title in the 1957/58 season . In the 1955/56 season he was also the top scorer in the Polish ice hockey league . He died in a car accident in 1987.

International

For the Polish national ice hockey team Skarżyński took part in the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz in 1948 , in Oslo in 1952 and in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956 . He was also in his country's squad at the 1955 and 1959 World Championships . Between 1947 and 1959 he completed a total of 45 internationals for Poland, in which he scored 23 goals.
