The Polish national team in a friendly match in 2006

The Polish men's national ice hockey team is ranked 20th in the IIHF world rankings after the 2017 World Cup . The current trainer is Ted Nolan .

At the men's ice hockey world championship in 2007 , the team in Group A of Division I, which was held in Qiqihar (China), finished second behind France and narrowly missed promotion to the A world championship. In the following years, too, the Polish team did not make it to the A-World Cup, in which they last played in 2002.

The best placement of a Polish team at world championships was fourth place at the ice hockey world championship in 1931 . In the 1970s, the team repeatedly belonged to the then only six or eight teams in the A-World Cup. In preparation for the annual world championships, the national team regularly takes part in tournaments of the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge .
