history
The Ukrainian national ice hockey team was founded after the dissolution of the Soviet Union . In 1993 the team took part in a world championship for the first time and took second place behind Latvia at the C World Cup. In the next few years, the Ukrainians also had to give way to newly established national teams (Slovakia, Belarus, Kazakhstan), so that it was not until 1997 that they were promoted to the B-World Cup. In 1998, the Ukrainian national ice hockey team rose directly to the A-World Cup, in which it was able to assert itself until 2007, when it was relegated to Division I again. In preparation for the annual world championships, the national team regularly takes part in tournaments of the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge .
