Between 1993 and 1996 the national team was looked after by Július Šupler , who led it up to the top division of the world championship. After Filcs resigned in 2002, František Hossa , the father of Marián Hossa , took over his post and achieved the bronze medal at the 2003 World Cup with the national team in 2003, he was replaced by Július Šupler, who after the Slovaks' disappointing performance at the Ice Hockey World Cup Herren was released in 2008 and replaced by Ján Filc. From March 2010, Glen Hanlon was national coach after Filc resigned after the 2010 Winter Olympics . The national team was trained by Vůjtek between August 2011 and May 2015 . Then Zdeno Cíger took over . He was succeeded by Craig Ramsay in August 2017 .
