Jerguš Bača (* 4. January 1965 in Liptovsky Mikulas , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player , who in his active period from 1987 to 2005 included for the Hartford Whalers in the National Hockey League and the Oberhausen Revierlöwen in the German Ice Hockey League play Has. Since the end of his career he has been working as an ice hockey coach and coached the Slovak national team at several tournaments as an assistant coach.
Career
Jerguš Bača began his career as a hockey player at HC Košice , for which he was active from 1987 to 1990 in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak league. With his team he won the championship in the 1987/88 season and took second place in the European Cup in the following season . In the 1990 NHL Entry Draft , the defender was selected in the seventh round as a total of 141st player by the Hartford Whalers . First, however, he completed almost the entire 1990/91 season with the farm team of the Whalers, the Springfield Indians from the American Hockey League , with whom he won the Calder Cup . In this and the following year he played only a total of ten games for Hartford in the National Hockey League . The rest of the time he spent again with the Indians, before he played from 1992 to 1994 for the new farm team of the Whalers, the Milwaukee Admirals from the International Hockey League .
For the 1994/95 season, Bača signed with Leksands IF from the Swedish Elitserien . After his first stop in other European countries, the Slovak returned for another year to the Milwaukee Admirals in the IHL, before he completed the 1996/97 season mainly at HC Olomouc from the Czech extra league . Before the end of the season, however, he left the team again and moved to his former club HC Košice, with whom he again won the Slovak championship in 1999. Following this success, he was committed by the Revierlöwen Oberhausen from the German Ice Hockey League , which he left after their license revocation in 2002. He then returned to Slovakia, where he was until the end of his career in 2005 in his hometown for the MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš on the ice, where he ended the 2002/03 season at HC Dukla Trenčín .
International
For Czechoslovakia Bača took part in the World Championships in 1989 and 1990 . For Slovakia he took part in the World Championships in 1997 and 2002 . He was also part of the Slovak squad at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer and the 1996 World Cup of Hockey .
As a trainer
At the 2006 and 2012 World Championships and at the 2006 Winter Olympics , he was assistant coach for the Slovak national team.
