Serbian national ice hockey team
The Serbian national ice hockey team for men is ranked 30th in the IIHF world rankings after the 2017 World Cup and played in Division II at the 2011 World Cup. The national team, which is organized by the Serbian Ice Hockey Federation, is the official successor to the one after the independence of Montenegro in 2006 disbanded Serbian-Montenegrin national ice hockey team , which had previously replaced the Yugoslav national team .
2006 took the last time a Serbian-Montenegrin national team at a World Ice Hockey Championships in part, since 2007 the team for Serbia joins world championships. A national team of Montenegro has not yet been reported.
At the first World Cup participation in 2007, the Serbian team finished fourth in Group A of Division II, and at the men's ice hockey world championship in 2008 , the team was able to improve this result by one place. In 2009, the Serbs managed to win Division II in their own country. This was the first time the team was promoted to the second-rate Division I. The decisive factor was a 5-4 success after a penalty shoot-out in the first game against the top favorites Estonia . However, she had to accept relegation in 2010.
