The Algerian national ice hockey team belongs to the Algerian ice hockey association Algerian Ice & Inline Hockey Association and represents it in international competitions.
history
The Algerian national ice hockey team was formed after a growing number of players of Algerian origin entered professional gaming in France and the UK. The national team first took part in an international ice hockey tournament in 2008 when they met the national teams of Kuwait , Morocco and the host in the Arab Cup of Ice Hockey in Abu Dhabi , United Arab Emirates , from June 16 to 20 . The Algerians lost their first international game against Kuwait with a 2: 8. In the following two group games, as well as the semifinals and the game for third place, the Algerian national team lost to their respective opponents and finished the tournament in fourth and last place without a win or point. Nevertheless, the Algerian Harond Litim was voted Most Valuable Player of the tournament with eleven points .
The Algerians used their training camp in May 2009 to play two friendly matches against the French second division club Viry-Châtillon Essonne Hockey . In the second meeting, after a clear 3:11 defeat, they were able to win just 6: 5 and take their first victory.
In December 2010 the Algerian Association announced that it had decided to cooperate with the Lee Valley Lions from the English National League .
After several years of inactivity, there were three friendly matches against Morocco and Lebanon in Laval , Canada in 2017 . Algeria was able to win a game for the first time (2-1 against Morocco on September 20, 2017).
