The Jets de Viry-Châtillon (official name: Viry-Châtillon Essonne Hockey ) were a French ice hockey team from Viry-Châtillon , who played in the top French ice hockey league from 1971 to 2011, among other things .

history

The founder of the US Métro's ice hockey department , Claude Pourtanel, acquired the Patinoire privée de Viry-Châtillon ice rink in 1971 , whereupon the US Métro's ice hockey department became independent and founded the OHC Paris-Viry. The team took part in the 1971/72 season for the first time in the highest French ice hockey league , in which they immediately finished third in their debut season. For the next three decades, the club's first team played regularly in France's elite league. Following the 2010/11 season, the club, which had meanwhile only played under-class, went bankrupt, whereupon the successor club Viry Hockey 91 was founded, which began playing in the fourth-class Division 3.
