Yohann Auvitu (born July 27, 1989 in Joinville-le-Pont ) is a French ice hockey player who was last under contract with HK Sotschi in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Yohann Auvitu began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Viry-Châtillon Essonne Hockey , where he was active until 2005. The winger then moved to the youth department of Avalanche Mont-Blanc , for whose professional team he was on the ice from 2006 to 2008 in the Ligue Magnus , the top French division. He then joined the U18 juniors of the top Finnish club JYP Jyväskylä . For their farm team , the D Team , he was a regular player in the second-rate Mestis from 2009 to 2011 . At the same time he made his debut in the SM-liiga for JYP in the 2010/11 season . In seven games he remained without point and punishment. 2013 he was with JYP European Trophy gewinnen-

Since the end of April 2014, Auvitu has been under contract with Helsingfors IFK , with whom he was awarded the best defender in the league in the 2015/16 season and was awarded the Pekka Rautakallio trophy and was elected to the All-Star team. Subsequently, the defender decided to move to North America and signed a one-year contract with the New Jersey Devils , for whom he plays in the National Hockey League . But it is also used by their farm team, the Albany Devils .

After the 2016/17 season, the Devils did not extend the expiring contract of the Frenchman, so Auvitu joined the Edmonton Oilers as a free agent in July 2017 . As a result, he returned to Europe in July 2018 when he moved to HK Sochi in the Continental Hockey League (KHL). In January 2019 he left the club from the Black Sea coast after only 25 KHL games.

International

For France , Auvitu took part in the junior division at the U18 junior world championships in Division I in 2006 and 2007 and in the U20 junior world championships in Division I in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 , when he was the second best preparer behind his compatriot Stéphane Da Costa .

In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 World Championships .
