The 32nd ice hockey world championships of the U20 juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF were the ice hockey world championships of the year 2008 in the age group of the under-20s (U20). Between December 9, 2007 and January 24, 2008, a total of 41 national teams took part in the six tournaments of the top division and divisions I to III.

The world champion was for the fourth time in a row and for the 14th time overall the team of Canada , which defeated Sweden 3-2 after extra time in the final . The German team was able with the victory in Group A of Division I secure the direct promotion to the top division, Switzerland finished in ninth place in the top division and put up at the Division I. Austria finished second behind Germany in Group A of Division I and thus missed promotion to the top division.

The U20 World Cup was held from December 26, 2007 to January 5, 2008 in Pardubice and Liberec in the Czech Republic . The games took place in the ČEZ Aréna (10,300 places) and in the Tipsport Arena (7,250 places).

Ten national teams took part, playing in two groups of five teams each. The Canadian team became world champions for the fourth time in a row and a total of 14th world champions with a 3-2 final win after extra time over Sweden, after they were surprisingly inferior to the Swedes in the preliminary round.

After the group games in the preliminary round, the two group winners qualified directly for the semi-finals. The runners-up and thirds in the group each played a qualifying game for participation in the semi-finals. The fourth and fifth of the group games contested - taking the result of the direct encounter from the preliminary round with them - the relegation round and determined two relegated to Division I.

The World Cup of Group A of Division I was held from December 9th to 15th, 2007 in Bad Tölz , Germany . The games took place in the Hacker-Pschorr Arena , which can hold up to 4,115 spectators , and where EC Bad Tölz also plays its home games.

The German U20 national team made it back to the top division undefeated after winning the decisive final group game against Austria. The Lithuanians emerged from the tournament as relegated to Division II . The German Timo Pielmeier was honored as the best goalkeeper . The German defender Christopher Fischer and the Austrian striker Michael Raffl , who together with the German Frank Mauer topped the scorer list with 13 points each , received further awards .

Group B of Division I held its World Championship from December 12th to 18th, 2007 in the Latvian capital Riga . The venue was the Arēna Rīga with 10,300 seats, which was built for the 2006 Men's Ice Hockey World Championship .

The Latvian U20 selection emerged as the tournament winner and thus promoted to the top division, celebrating a 3-1 victory in the decisive final game against the Belarusian representation. Latvian Kaspars Daugaviņš and French Stéphane Da Costa shared the top scorer crown, while Latvian Artūrs Kulda was voted best defender, Maksim Maljuzin from Belarus the best goalkeeper and Slovenian Jan Muršak was voted best striker.
