The 1986 junior ice hockey world championship was the tenth edition of the world championship in the under-20 age group (U20) by the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF. The Soviet Union became junior world champions for the seventh time.

The A World Championship took place from December 26, 1985 to January 4, 1986 in Hamilton and Toronto , Canada . The B-World Championship was from 13. bis 22. March 1986 was in Klagenfurt , Austria discharged. The C-Group of was played from March 21 to 27, 1986 in Gap , France . A total of 22 countries took part in the three tournaments.

World Championship

The World Cup was the Canadian Hamilton and Toronto in the province of Ontario held. While the Soviet team won the title for the seventh time, the selection of the Federal Republic of Germany had to relegate to the B group.

mode

Players under 20 years of age (U-20) were allowed. Eight teams took part, each of which competed once against each group opponent in a common group. The group winner became world champion. The last one was relegated to the B group.
