The 45th Ice Hockey World Championships of the U20 Juniors of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF are the ice hockey world championships of the year 2021 in the age group of the under-20s (U20).

The top division of the World Cup will be played in Canada from December 26, 2020 to January 5, 2021 . The venues are Edmonton and Red Deer in the province of Alberta . As part of a long-term agreement between IIHF and the Canadian Federation, the Junior World Championships are held in Canada every two to three years.

Top division

The top division of the U20 World Cup took place in Canada from December 26, 2020 to January 5, 2021 . Ten national teams take part in the tournament, playing in two groups of five teams each. The two groups were composed according to the positions of the teams at the 2020 World Cup according to the following key:

After the group matches in the preliminary round, the top four in each group qualified for the quarter-finals, which, like the other rounds, are then played in the knockout system. The fifth of the group games deny a relegation according to the " best-of-three " mode and determine who was relegated to Group A of Division I.
