The A-World Junior Championship was held in Germany from December 26, 1991 to January 4, 1992 . The games took place in the Bavarian cities of Füssen and Kaufbeuren .

A total of eight teams took part in the A tournament, including the CIS team from January 1, 1992 , which represented the politically no longer existing USSR from that day. The team, whose roster also included players from Latvia and Lithuania and was thus almost identical to that of the former Soviet team , started the tournament under the name and flag of the USSR. Nevertheless, it won its ninth world title. The team from Switzerland was relegated to the B group.
