Andrei Iwanowitsch Nikolischin ( Russian Андрей Иванович Николишин ; born March 25, 1973 in Vorkuta , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and current coach.

Career

Andrei Nikolischin started his career at Dynamo Moscow . In the 1990/91 season he received his first appearances in the Wysschaja Liga before he became a regular at Dynamo in 1992. In 1992 he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the 2nd round in 47th place by the Hartford Whalers . In 1994 he moved to the National Hockey League for the Whalers. Until 2003 he played in the NHL with the Washington Capitals , Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche . Then he went back to the Russian league . Further stations were HK CSKA Moscow , HK Lada Tolyatti and HK Awangard Omsk . He spent the 2006/07 season at SKA Saint Petersburg .

From 2007 to 2011 Nikolischin played for the HK tractor Chelyabinsk - initially in the Super League and from the 2008/09 season in the Continental Hockey League . For the 2011/12 season he was signed by HK Sokol Kiev from the Ukrainian ice hockey league before he ended his career.

International

In the junior division, Nikolischin took part in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1991 and the Junior Ice Hockey World Championship in 1992 for the Soviet Union . At the 1993 World Cup , he stood for the first time for the Russian national ice hockey team on the ice, where he won the gold medal with the selection. Further appearances at world championships followed in 1994, 1996, 1997 and 2000.

His international career was crowned with a bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics .

As a trainer

Nikolischin started his work as head coach in October 2014 at HK Tractor Chelyabinsk . In November 2015, he was relieved of his post and signed ten days later as the new head coach of Amur Khabarovsk . There he replaced the previously dismissed Sergei Shepelev and looked after the KHL team until the end of the 2015/16 season.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he was assistant coach at HK Dynamo Moscow , but was dismissed from this position at the beginning of October as part of the engagement of a new head coach.
