The Group A tournament was held from April 2 to 8, 2018 in the Latvian capital Riga . The games took place in the Arēna Rīga , which holds 10,000 spectators . A total of 9,057 spectators attended the 15 tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 603 per game.
The host Latvians succeeded in a sovereign manner and with the maximum yield of five wins, the direct promotion to the top division. Latvia was particularly convincing with its strong defense with only four goals. Behind them were Germany, who rehabilitated themselves for fifth place last year, but lost the decisive game on matchday three against Latvia despite the interim lead. Likewise, newly promoted Slovenia said goodbye to group B, as the win against the eventual third Denmark was not enough. The direct duel against the Norwegians with equal points was clearly lost with 0: 5.

The group B tournament was held from April 14-20, 2018 in the Ukrainian capital Kiev . The games took place in the city's 7,000-seat sports palace . A total of 33,163 spectators attended the 15 tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 2,210 per game.
As in group A, in group B of division I, the host managed to move up to the higher group. The Ukraine prevailed through the direct comparison won against the tied team from Austria and thus rose to the A group of Division I in its current form for the first time. Ukraine started the tournament with a 0-1 defeat, but subsequently won four games, including the ultimately decisive 5-3 win against Austria. Last year's relegated Hungary, who had started the tournament with two wins and had topped the table on the first two match days, only finished fourth overall. Romania, which only rose last year, had to go back to Division II. The Romanians lost all five games and scored more than one goal in just one game.

The Group A tournament of Division II was held from April 1st to 7th, 2018 in the Estonian capital Tallinn . The games took place in the Tondiraba Jäähall , which holds 5,840 spectators . A total of 5,655 spectators attended the 15 tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 377 per game.
Before the last day of the match, the table constellation showed that three teams were still able to make it to Division I. Both Poland, Great Britain and Lithuania were in the top three places in the table with nine points. The Poles had the best record in the direct duels of the three teams with the same points, which meant that they were the only one of the three teams to make the rise on their own and did not have to hope that the competition would lose points. Lithuania and Great Britain initially fulfilled their tasks, while Poland - despite a 3-0 lead in the meantime - only won against hosts Estonia in extra time. Due to the loss of points, Great Britain jumped to first place and thus made the first promotion to Division I perfect since 2011 , while Poland, third, missed the direct promotion. Relegation to Group B of Division II had to accept promoted Australia. The Australians lost all five games and went straight back to Group B with no points and with a goal balance of 4:44.

The tournament Group A was from March 26 to April 1, 2018 in the Turkish Erzurum discharged. The games took place in Erzurum Gençlik Hizmetleri ve Spor İl Müdürlüğü with a capacity of 3,000 . A total of 10,134 spectators attended the 15 tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 675 per game.
With a victory against Israel on the final day of the tournament, Belgium returned to Division II after relegation in the previous year. After three sovereign victories at the beginning, Belgium was still in danger after a defeat against the surprisingly strong promoted Mexico. However, the narrow victory over Israel on the final day was sufficient after the Mexicans had lost points against Israel and hosts Turkey at the start of the tournament. The Republic of China (Taiwan) had to accept relegation to Group B of Division III, which had to accept a 1:19 defeat against Belgium at the start of the tournament and could no longer rehabilitate itself.
