The games of the 13th Junior A World Championship in 1989 took place from December 26, 1988 to January 4, 1989 in Anchorage , United States . Group B was played in Canazei , Italy , and Group C in Chamonix , France .
A total of 21 teams took part. There were two more qualifying games in the run-up to the B-WM. In the case of the C-group winner from the previous year, Denmark, a player was subsequently convicted of doping. The Danes were then denied direct promotion and they had to play an additional qualification against the C-group runner-up Italy. The USSR became the new world champion for the eighth time.
World Championship
The world championship took place in Anchorage , Alaska , USA . Fire Lake acted as a sideline . The team of the USSR became the junior world champion . The team from the Federal Republic of Germany was relegated and replaced by promoted Poland .
mode
Players under 20 years of age (U-20) were allowed. Eight teams took part, each of which competed once against each group opponent in a common group. World champion became the group winner. The last was relegated to the B World Championship.
