Sergei Jurjewitsch Gomoljako ( Russian Сергей Юрьевич Гомоляко ; born January 19, 1970 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who won the European Hockey League with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk from 1986 to 2006 .
Career
Sergei Gomoljako began his career as a hockey player in his hometown, where he was active from 1988 to 1990 for HK Metschel Chelyabinsk in the second-rate Vysschaya League . He then moved in the course of the 1988/89 season to their city rivals HK Traktor Chelyabinsk , for whom he was on the ice in the Super League in the next six and a half years and was CIS runner-up in the 1992/93 season. In addition, the attacker was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1989 in the ninth round as a total of 189 players by the Calgary Flames , for which he however never played. Instead, the left shooter moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in 1995 , with whom he then became Russian champions in the 1998/99 season and won the European Hockey League . He repeated the success in the EHL a year later. He also won the Russian Cup with his team in 1998 and was runner-up with Metallurg in the same season.
In the 2000/01 season Gomoljako was on the ice for the HK Lada Tolyatti . The following season he began with the first division side Severstal Tscherepowez , before he signed with Chimik Woskressensk from the Wysschaja League during the season . After a year in the second Russian division, the winger ran in the 2002/03 season for his two ex-clubs HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk and HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the super league. He then spent a season at Salawat Julajew Ufa , before ending his career at HK Metschel Tscheljabinsk, now relegated to the second division, for which he played in the Wysschaya League from 2003 to 2006.
International
For the Soviet Union Gomoljako took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 1989 , where he won the gold medal with his team.
