Municipal Waste is a US-based crossover - band from Richmond in Virginia , which was founded in the 2000th

history

Municipal Waste was founded in 2000. The band held their first concert on the night of 2000 to 2001 in Richmond. The group consisted of the drummer Brendan Trache, the bassist Andy Harris, the singer Tony Foresta and the guitarist Ryan Waste. This was followed by other appearances in small clubs. In 2001 a first EP was released via Amendment Records . In 2001 and 2002 the band toured the United States and Mexico . In 2002 a split was released with Crucial Unit and in 2003 another with Bad Acid Trip . Drummer Trache left the band in 2002 and was replaced by Brandon Ferrell. In 2003 the debut album Waste 'Em All followed on Six Weeks Records . The album was produced by Corey Smoot , also working for Gwar under the name "Flattus Maximus" . The release was followed by appearances with Converge and The Red Chord . After the release, bassist Harris and drummer Ferrell left the band and were replaced by drummer Dave Witte and bassist Land Phil. After that, the band held other tours. In 2005 the band signed a contract with Earache Records , which released the album Hazardous Mutation . The cover of this was designed by Ed Repka . A music video was also created for the song Unleash the Bastards . The group was also heard on BBC Radio, among others . In 2006 the band played together with Sick of It All in Europe and also performed in Australia . The group played at the Reading and Leeds Festival and toured the US with Gwar. Another US tour with Destruction followed in June 2007 , before going into the studio with producer Zeuss to record the album The Art of Partying . The publication was followed by a European tour, a tour with The Haunted , a tour with Suicidal Tendencies and an appearance at the Wacken Open Air . After that, the band recorded a music video for the song Headbanger Face Rip . In early 2008, the band played at the Download Festival and Hellfest, as well as a few other European festivals in June, before touring the USA with At the Gates and Darkest Hour in July . In the same year the band also took part in a concert on a cruise ship, in which groups such as Danko Jones , Backyard Babies , Soilwork , Avatar and General Surgery were involved. The trip stretched from Stockholm to Turku and back again. In 2011 Municipal Waste signed a contract with Nuclear Blast , which resulted in their 2012 album The Fatal Feast . Guest musicians on this album included John Connelly (guitarist and vocalist for Nuclear Assault ), Steve Moore (bassist for Zombi ) and vocalist Tim Barry (previously with Avail ). The drums were recorded at Trax East Studios under the direction of Eric Rachel , while everything else was produced by the band themselves.

style

Ryan Waste cites groups like DRI , SOD , Slayer and Minor Threat as influences. On the split release together with Bad Acid Trip, the band dedicated themselves to the films of Kurt Russell . On Hazardous Mutation , the band played technically undemanding Thrash Metal , mixed with some hardcore punk influences. On The Art of Partying , the band took their bearings from the classic crossover thrash metal of the early 1980s, mixing thrash metal with hardcore punk. The speed of the songs was mostly in the upper range. The band could be compared to groups like the Wehrmacht or Gang Green and mostly dealt with topics like beer, skateboards, horror films, comics, parties and fun. Massive Aggressive was described as a "party record". Then the band was variable in speed: The songs consisted of fast parts of groove and mid-tempo passages and also mixed in melodic elements. On The Fatal Fest the band played crossover thrash metal in the style of groups like DRI and CoC. On the album, the group tried to use more solos and stronger influences from classic metal compared to its predecessors .
