Ed Repka

Edward "Ed" J. Repka is an American artist from New York who primarily by the design of heavy- and thrash metal - record covers has become famous. He graduated cum laude from Parsons The New School for Design , with a bachelor's degree in illustration.

Repka exhibits his works in various galleries from New York to Japan and sells them there too.

Description of the works

Much of his work dates from the 1980s, as this was the time he was mostly active. His works mostly describe apocalyptic conditions or gloomy visions with war-like, devastated scenes. His works are kept in a colorful comic style and often have light, satirical traits.

In 2002 he became Art Director of the collectible figure manufacturer National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA), for whom he designs sculptures and paintings, but also designed a successful series of action figures.

Major works

He is particularly well known for his illustration of “ Vic Rattlehead ”, the skeletal mascot of the band Megadeth , which has graced various CD covers, posters, T-shirts and various other merchandise for over a decade . He also designed the Dark Angel band logo .
