history

SOB was founded in 1983 in Osaka, Japan as a hardcore punk band. In 1985 the first demo, Leave Me Alone, was released . Despite the English song title, the lyrics are mostly written in Japanese . The debut album Don't Be Swindle was released in 1987 on Selfish Records . There was a lot of tape trading between SOB and Shane Embury from the English grindcore band Napalm Death . Both Embury and napalm death drummer Mick Harris were impressed by SOB and compared the music with the American victories . As part of their first joint tour of Japan with Napalm Death, a split EP was released in 1989 by both bands. A little later, SOB toured England through Napalm Death. A live EP of this tour was released in 1989.

In October 1990 SOB played on the radio show by John Peel , the recordings were later released as an EP under the title The Peel Sessions . Also in 1990 the second studio album What's the Truth? . After a live album as well as further EPs and singles, Gate of Doom (1993) and Vicious World (1994) two further studio albums were released. After the suicide of singer Tottsuan in 1994, who threw himself in front of a moving train, the band was initially on hold. In 1999, she signed up with the EP Dub Grind and founding member and bassist Naoto as a singer back in 2000 appeared a video - compilation under the title History of ... SOB who offered a musical cross-section from 1986 to 1999. The last studio album so far was released in 2003 by EMI Japan under the title Still Grind Attitude .
