Hyades is an Italian thrash metal band that was formed in 1996 in Varese , Lombardy .
history
The band was founded in 1996 by guitarist Lorenzo Testa and drummer Omar Ceriotti. First they studied some cover versions. After a few months, Lorenzo's brother Luca, another guitarist and Andrea Colombo, a bassist, joined the band. In January 1999 they found a suitable singer in Marco Colombo. That same year they recorded their first demo together called Princess of the Rain .
At the end of the year Luca Testa left the band and was replaced by Marco Negonda. With this slightly changed line-up they recorded the next demo called MCLXXVII in spring 2000 and held concerts all over Italy. The following year they planned to record their first album.
Before the recordings, bassist Colombo left the band and was replaced by Fabio Cantù. This was also heard on the EP No Bullshit ... Just Metal . He was then replaced by Roberto Orlando. Drummer Ceriotti left the band in September 2002 and Mauro "Jorgy" De Brasi took over his position.
In January 2004 they recorded their debut album called Abuse Your Illusions . Through the recordings, the Belgian label Mausoleum Records became aware of the band and signed them. Abuse Your Illusions was released on the label in late 2005. Tours through Italy with Hatework and Vexed and through the USA with bands Imagika and Phantom-X followed . A tour of Europe with Phantom-X and Omen followed in September . Meanwhile the band wrote material for the next album.
And the Worst is Yet to Come was released in April 2007. The cover was designed by Ed Repka ( Death , Evildead , Megadeth , Toxik ). Rodolfo "Rawdeath" Ridolfi could be heard as the new drummer.
In the summer of 2009, the recording of The Roots of Trash began . The new bass player was Jerico Biagiotti. The album was mastered by Andy Classen in Stage One Studio in Germany . The cover was again designed by Ed Repka. In the following years the band toured Europe and played with bands such as Onslaught , Omen, Sinister , Helstar , Violator and Tankard . They were also represented at festivals such as Gods Of Metal .

In terms of style, the band is based on 1980s Thrash Metal from the San Francisco Bay Area . The band is compared with other bands in the genre such as Exodus , Testament , Forbidden , Metallica , Anthrax and Abattoir .
