Forbidden is a thrash metal band from San Francisco . The band was formed in 1985 as Forbidden Evil . Her first two albums are now considered genre classics.

history

After various demos , the band was signed by Combat Records. On the advice of their manager, the band deleted the word "Evil" from the band name. At that time Robb Flynn was still playing for Forbidden. After being fired shortly before the debut album was released, Flynn switched to VIOLENCE and later founded Machine Head . Flynn was replaced by Glenn Alvelais.

In 1988 the debut album Forbidden Evil was released , which received euphoric reviews. The band toured Europe with Exodus , Death Angel and Testament . The band recorded the appearance at Dynamo Open Air and later released the recordings as EP Raw Evil: Live at the Dynamo . Alvelais left the band for Testament and was replaced by Tim Calvert.

In 1990, the second album was released with Twisted into Form . Forbidden managed to add a previously unknown virtuosity to the heaviness of the debut. Like the debut, Twisted into Form is one of the classics of Thrash Metal. The contract with Combat expired and was not renewed. In 1992 Combat released a best-of compilation called Point of No Return without consulting the band . In the same year, Paul Bostaph moved to Slayer .

In the meantime, Forbidden released four demos. In 1995 the band was signed by Gun Records . Steve Jacobs became the new drummer. The third album Distortion was also released in 1995. Despite the good reviews, many fans were disappointed with the new songs. In 1997, Green was the last album that was very reminiscent of Machine Head. After a short tour with Testament, the band broke up.

Calvert was hired by Nevermore . Singer Russ Anderson founded the Parking Lot Prophets, while the rest of the members formed the band Manmade God . There was a one-time reunion for the Thrash-of-the-Titans benefit festival for the cancer- ill will singer Chuck Billy .

In 2008 and 2009 Forbidden played some exclusive shows in Japan, Australia and Europe, u. a. at Bang Your Head 2008 in Balingen or at the Rock Hard Festival 2009 in Gelsenkirchen.

On October 22nd, 2010 Forbidden released their comeback album "Omega Wave".
