Paul Steven Bostaph (born March 6, 1964 in San Francisco , California ) is an American drummer . He played in the bands Slayer , Testament and Exodus .

Career

Bostaph was one of the founding members of the band Forbidden Evil in 1985. After the band signed a record deal, the band, on the advice of their manager, shortened their name to Forbidden . Bostaph played on the first two albums Forbidden Evil and Twisted into Form . When the band lost their contract and the search for a new partner took longer, Bostaph switched to Slayer in 1992 and succeeded Dave Lombardo . In the meantime he helped the band Testament on a tour. With Slayer, Bostaph recorded the albums Divine Intervention and the cover album Undisputed Attitude . In late 1996, Bostaph left Slayer to concentrate on his solo project The Truth About Seafood . However, this project remained without publication.

In late 1997, Bostaph returned to Slayer after his successor Jon Dette was fired from the band. With Slayer, Bostaph recorded two more albums, Diabolus in Musica and God Hates Us All , before moving back to Dave Lombardo in 2002. In spring 2005 he joined the band Exodus and temporarily took over the position of Tom Hunting, who took a break for health reasons. Bostaph can be heard on the Exodus album Shovel Headed Kill Machine . After Hunting's return, Bostaph pushed the reunification of his first band, Forbidden. There he has since been replaced by Mark Hernandez, as Bostaph was too limited in time when he joined Testament in autumn 2007. After Dave Lombardo had to leave Slayer again, Bostaph takes over the drums there again. In 2019, Slayers broke up.
