This discography is an overview of the musical works of Slayer , one in 1981 Huntington Park based thrash metal - band . It includes twelve studio albums , four live albums , two EPs , five DVDs , a compilation , 28 singles and 16 music videos . Before the dissolution in 2019, Slayer consisted of singer and bassist Tom Araya , guitarists Kerry King and Gary Holt and drummer Paul Bostaph . According to sources and record awards, the band has sold more than 2.7 million records to date, over 2.3 million of them in their home country alone. Slayer's most successful release is the album South of Heaven with over 560,000 units sold.
