James Murphy

James Murphy (born July 30, 1967 in Portsmouth , Virginia , USA ) is an American guitarist . He is known within the metal scene for his elaborate solo play .

biography

He started his musical career with the band Death , with whom he joined in 1990 and with whom he released an album, before moving to Obituary that same year , with whom he also released an album. In 1993 he joined the band Disincarnate , with whom he released a record. At the end of that year he switched to Cancer - he also released an album here before leaving the band. In 1994 James Murphy joined the thrash metal band Testament . With Testament he played two albums and a live record before he finally left the band. From 1997 to 1999 he was a member of the Danish death metal band Konkhra . In 1996 he founded his own band, named after himself, but it is based in the fusion area. In addition, he has repeatedly contributed solos to the records of various bands. He has also played live guitar for Agent Steel and Hallows Eve .

In 2001 Murphy fell ill with a brain tumor , which however could be treated.
