Roadrunner United: The All-Star Sessions is a Metal - album , which by Roadrunner Records was produced. It was released on October 10, 2005 on the occasion of the record company's 25th birthday. The pieces were written and recorded by various musicians.

Emergence

The idea for Roadrunner United came about in June 2004 when A&R employee Monte Conner was looking for ways to celebrate Roadrunner Records' 25th birthday. The album should cover the entire history of the label as well as new artists. The draft provided for four “ team captains ”, each of whom should write four pieces and each should choose two guitarists, a bassist and a drummer. The groups were asked to record the instrumental pieces in a studio selected by the captain, each of which had a different singer who provided the text and voice that he had written himself. The singers could record their voices in a studio of their choice.

Work on the album began in August 2004, when Joey Jordison , Matthew Heafy , Dino Cazares and Robb Flynn were chosen as the “ Team captains ”. These four musicians coordinated the work of a total of 56 musicians from 44 former and current Roadrunner bands and produced 18 songs. Joey Jordison's team recorded a fifth piece, and a collaboration between Mikael Åkerfeldt and Josh Silver was also released.

In 2008 the concert DVD Roadrunner United - The Concert was released, which contains the Roadrunner anniversary concert from December 2005 and a 75-minute documentary. The project was coordinated by Lora Richardson, the mix was done by Colin Richardson and Andy Sneap . Four songs from the album were performed live, and some highlights of the Roadrunner rooster were played in different line-ups. Among other things, Tim "Ripper" Owens , Scott Ian from Anthrax and Ville Valo also took part in the performance in addition to the musicians on the album .
