Spineshank is an American nu-metal / alternative-metal band.

Band history

Spineshank was founded in February 1996. Originally the singer Jonny Santos, the guitarist Mike Sarkisyan and Tom Decker on drums were part of the group "Basic Enigma". This was strongly influenced by the album Demanufacture , which was released by Fear Factory in 1995 and can therefore be seen as the trigger for the founding of Spineshanks. Later the bassist Robert Garcia completed the newly formed band. The band quickly made contact with guitarist Dino Cazares from Fear Factory, who immediately after hearing the demo tape offered them to support Fear Factory at Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles . This led to other appearances with bands such as Coal Chamber , Snot , Soulfly , Sepultura and Danzig .

Spineshank got a contract with Roadrunner Records . Their first studio album, Strictly Diesel , was released in September 1998, with Burton C. Bell , singer from Fear Factory, singing on the track Stain . Height of Callousness was produced two years later. It took Spineshank three full years to release their last album Self-Destructive Pattern . The song Smothered was in 2003 for the Grammy in the category Best Metal Performance Nominated

Jonny Santos later left the band and the rest of the members were looking for a new singer, who, according to an official announcement on November 7, 2005, was found in Brandon Espinoza. In September 2008 the band officially announced their reunion with ex-singer Jonny Santos. Since then they have been working on the successor to Self-Destructive Pattern . Shortly after the announcement of the reunion, the first audio sample of the new piece Born Conform Repent follows . However, this is only a demo recording .

Between 2009 and 2011 Spineshank played a few concerts in America and published three studio videos on their MySpace page, in which you can get an insight into the studio recordings. In the meantime, Johnny Santos showed up with his second band Silent Civilian , which also gave a few concerts and released a second studio album in mid-2010. In spring 2011, Spineshank got back and announced the release of a new album. All you have to do is look for a record company that will release the album that has already been produced. The new album is titled Anger Denial Acceptance . At the end of 2011 the first two songs and the tracklist were released. The titles of the songs are Anger Denial Acceptance and Murder Suicide . Anger Denial Acceptance was published in Germany on June 15, 2012.
