Still Remains is a metalcore band from Grand Rapids , Michigan that mixes modern hardcore with keyboard sounds in an atypical way. After disbanding in March 2008, the reunification was announced in May 2011.
history
After the band formed in 2001 from members of the former hardcore band Shades of Amber , they recorded the EP Dying With a Smile in 2003 and released it in July of the same year. In August 2004 the second EP If Love Was Born to Die was released . Then the band signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records , where the debut album Of Love and Lunacy was finally released in May 2005 , from which the songs The Worst Is Yet to Come and White Walls were also released as singles . In early 2006 Still Remains were the opening act for Bullet for My Valentine on the Kerrang XXV tour.
Their second studio album, The Serpent , was released in the summer of 2007, and in 2008 they toured again with Bullet for My Valentine.
In March 2008, the band announced their breakup on their blog on their MySpace page.
On December 18, 2010, the band confirmed rumors of their reunion. In the cast of the Of Love and Lunacy album, they played together with Haste the Day on their farewell show.
On May 7, 2011, Still Remains announced their official reunion.
On January 1, 2012, the band released their new song Reading Lips on their official Facebook page. The recordings for the third studio album, Ceasing To Breathe , announced for 2013, were financed through crowdfunding .
style
Still Remains are known to incorporate keyboards into modern American metal to bring a "Euro-Metal sound" into their music. Similarities to Swedish Melodic Death Metal ( New Wave of Swedish Death Metal ) are also present through growls and breakdowns. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Kerrang! Covered the song Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails for the sampler High Voltage: A Brief History of Rock . Many fans associate the band with the Christian metalcore that is widespread in America , as some songs deal with Christian themes.
