Blood Has Been Shed ( in English: Blood has been shed) is an American mathcore band from Connecticut .
Band history
Blood Has Been Shed is best known through the two band members Howard Jones (vocals) and Justin Foley (drums), who were or are also active in the successful metal core band Killswitch Engage .
Since the band was founded in 1997, three albums have been released. The debut album I Dwell on Thoughts of You was released in September 1999 and contains seven songs. The second studio album Novella of Uriel , for which 13 songs were recorded, was released in February 2001. This was followed by a change of record label to Roadrunner Records , where in March 2003 the third album Spirals was released. Almost all of the lyrics on this album are about partnership relationships.
A member of the band was also u. a. guitarist Brendan "Slim" MacDonald, who is currently active in the metal core band Bury Your Dead .
Blood Has Been Shed is currently in the process of recording their fourth studio album, Enloco Tacoa , which will be released in 2009.
Music genre
The music between Killswitch Engage and Blood Has Been Shed differs in that Blood Has Been Shed is less melodic and more influenced by moshcore, i. This means that the songs also contain particularly slowly played parts, so-called mosh parts, which gain their expressiveness through the down-tuned and extremely distorted guitars. In addition, Howard Jones rarely uses his voice clearly.
