ZENNER International is a global manufacturer of water and heat meters .
history
Karl Adolf Zenner founded a sales company for water meters in 1903. In 1924 the company started its own production of water meters in Saarbrücken.
In 1946 the management was taken over by Karl Adolf Zenner jun. Peter Zenner, the founder's grandson, took over management of the company in 1980.
Under the leadership of Peter Zenner, business activities began to expand to international markets. In 1987 the first subsidiaries were founded in France and Italy. Others followed in Hungary in 1990, in Spain, Vietnam and Slovakia in 1992 and in Poland in 1993. In 1995 the go-ahead was given for the production of heat meters . In the same year the first subsidiary was founded in China. In 2005 the Zenner group was taken over by Minol Messtechnik . Since then, both companies have jointly formed the Minol-Zenner Group. Production and logistics were relocated to Mulda / Saxony .
Since then, the management has been formed by the Zenner Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH with the managing director Alexander Lehmann. In March 2017, Sascha Schlosser was appointed another managing director. Zenner has also been represented in the USA since 2012. Zenner Performance, based in Addison (Texas) and with a production facility in Banning (California), produces and sells water meters and AMR systems specifically for the North and Central American market.
With the establishment of another company division, Zenner entered the international gas meter market at the end of 2012 . The joint venture established with the Chinese Fato Group, Zenner Metering Technology Ltd ,. found her home in Shanghai and produces around three million gas meters for international markets every year. Zenner has also been producing smoke alarms and sensors since 2014 .
In 2016, the company entered the fast-growing Internet of Things market . As part of the digitization strategy, Zenner acquired stakes in the two start-up companies SmartMakers in Karlsruhe and Tracknet in the USA, both of which specialize in technologies in the field of Internet of Things, at the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 . In May 2017, another investment followed in the company Zenner IoT Solutions in Hamburg,
Today, Zenner is one of the leading suppliers of measuring devices for recording consumption of water, thermal energy and gas on every continent.
Business areas
The company is a manufacturer of water and heat meters , gas meters , smoke alarms and the corresponding system technology for remote reading and processing of meter and device data. The measuring devices for consumption recording and system control are sold in over 90 countries worldwide. The company is represented with its own subsidiaries in around 20 countries.
The target group includes public utilities, municipal water suppliers, energy supply companies, contracting companies, district heating companies, metering services, wholesalers and industrial companies around the world.

The company's headquarters have been in Saarbrücken since 1903. The administration, sales and development center is located here. Production and logistics have been in Mulda (Saxony) since 2005 .
