Addison is a city in Dallas County in the US state of Texas in the United States and is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex .

The city is located in northeast Texas, about 80 km to the north from Oklahoma and has a total area of ​​11.5 km², without any significant water surface.

history

The land on which the current city of Addison stands was settled by Preston Witt as early as 1846 when he was building a house near White Rock Creek . In 1902 the settlement was named Addison, named after Addison Robertson , who held the post of postmaster from 1908 to 1916. In 1902 there was the first industrial processing of cotton. On June 15, 1953, Addison was incorporated as a city, and in 1982 the name was officially changed to Town of Addison .
