description

In the 1970s, the Collegium Vocale was one of the first choirs to apply the knowledge of historical performance practice. Well-known baroque conductors such as Gustav Leonhardt , Ton Koopman and Nikolaus Harnoncourt became aware of the choir very quickly . Philippe Herreweghe made a highly acclaimed complete recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's cantatas with the choir .

The Collegium Vocale also owes its reputation to the interpretation of works by composers of the Central German Baroque, such as Bach and Heinrich Schütz . The choir's repertoire now includes works from the Renaissance to the Romantic period.

The orchestra of the Collegium Vocale Gent has existed since 1989, and is made up of first-class international baroque interpreters to perform with the choir.
