As the sound of Hamartia gradually became annoying to them, they began to write less technical material in their spare time. After they brought Rich Casey as bassist and Joe Krewko as singer to the band, they played together under the name Bury Your Dead a few gigs in Massachusetts and Connecticut . Soon they became more and more popular in the hardcore scenes on the east coast, which led to the band being signed by Eulogy Records.

After a few successful tours, the then band members of Bury Your Dead decided to go their separate ways; Drummer Mark Castillo moved back to Philadelphia and started touring with Between the Buried and Me , Rich Casey (bass) returned to the film printing business and Slim (guitar) joined Blood Has Been Shed .

After a few months had passed, Rich Casey contacted Brendan MacDonald and told him that he was interested in reforming Bury Your Dead. So they brought old and new band members together and later played at the "Gainesville Fest" in Florida , where they finally convinced Mark Castillo, who was there with Between The Buried And Me, of the idea of a serious band. Appearances at Hellfest followed .

In July 2003 they signed a record deal with Victory Records and released their second studio album Cover Your Tracks there . The actual recordings for it began in July 2004. All the songs on the album are named after films in which Tom Cruise is involved.
