Dez Fafara (* 12. May 1966 as Bradley James Fafara in Santa Barbara ) is an American metal singer of Italian descent. Fafara has been called "Dez" for short since his youth, based on his favorite singer Dez Cadena ( Black Flag , Misfits ).

After his time with the music group She's in Pain from 1992, Fafara became known as the singer of the nu-metal band Coal Chamber , which was popular in the late 1990s , and has been the front man for DevilDriver since 2002 .

Fafara's father Lucas "Tiger" Fafara II was a child actor in the sitcom Leave It To Beaver , which was shown in German-speaking countries under the title One should be grown up .

Life

Fafara is married and has three sons with his wife. While his wife can be seen on the cover of Coal Chamber's second album Chamber Music , the sons make an appearance in the music video for DevilDrivers Clouds Over California . Fafara dedicated a song to his eldest son, Tyler's Song (Coal Chamber, 1999). Tyler can also be heard on Tirades Of Truth (DevilDriver, 2007).

Musical work

Coal Chamber

Fafara released four studio albums with Coal Chamber . After the three albums Coal Chamber (1997), Chamber Music (1999) and Dark Days (2002), a collection of rarities, demos and remixes was released under the title Giving The Devil His Due (2003), a best-of compilation (2004 ) as well as a reissue of the debut for the 25th anniversary of the music label Roadrunner Records . After that it was quiet around Coal Chamber until the band reformed again in 2011. In 2015 Coal Chamber released their fourth album, Rivals .

DevilDriver

From 2003 Fafara recorded seven studio albums with DevilDriver . In addition to DevilDriver (2003), The Fury Of Our Maker's Hand (2005), The Last Kind Words (2007), Pray For Villains (2009), Beast (2011), Winter Kills (2013) and Trust No One (2016) also appeared in Great Britain the EP Head On To Heartache (2008).

Collaborations

Fafara also worked on over a dozen soundtracks , including the gold- winning CD for the horror film Scream 3 . Fafara was also involved in various other collaborations with well-known artists, for example with Ozzy Osbourne (for a cover version of Peter Gabriel's Shock The Monkey ), Dino Cazares (as part of the Roadrunner United project), Nikki Sixx (for the song Where is God Tonight? ) And Phil Anselmo (in his side project Viking Crown ).
