Dennis (Dec) Paul Cadena (born June 2, 1961 in Newark, New Jersey ) is an American singer and guitarist . He was the third singer in the hardcore punk band Black Flag . His father, Ozzie Cadena , was a co-founder of Savoy Records .

Career

Dez Cadena became the singer of Black Flag in 1980 after the band split from his predecessor Ron Reyes. After a year, Cadena decided to play the guitar. Henry Rollins took over the vocal parts. After Cadena left the band in 1983 after the album Damaged , he joined the band DC3 . Cadena was also a member of the bands Redd Kross, Twisted Roots and Ella and the Blacks, a band he co-founded. In 1985 he was a guest musician for Hüsker Dü on their album Zen Arcade .

In 2001, Cadena toured with the band The Misfits for the 25th anniversary of the band and played guitar on the album Project 1950 . Cadena was involved in both songwriting and vocal parts on the 2011 Misfits album. In 2015 he left the Misfits.

Cadena plays since 2006 lead guitar in the punk rock - supergroup Osaka Popstar , along with Jerry Only, Marky Ramone , John Cafiero and Ivan Julian . The band released their only album to date in 2006, Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk .
