1858: Comet Donati
  • 1858 : Comet Donati (C / 1858 L1) , one of the great comets of the 19th century, is discovered by the Italian astronomer Giambattista Donati . In the months that followed, the population was afraid of impending disaster in view of the celestial phenomena that could be seen with the naked eye.
