Gustave Lefèvre

Gustave Lefèvre (born June 2, 1831 in Provins , † March 17, 1910 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) was a French music teacher and composer.

The pupil of Pierre de Maleden founded the Societé du progrès artistique at the École Niedermeyer in 1859 , in which he organized concerts and exhibitions by painters and sculptors. In 1865 he married Niedermeyer's daughter and took over the management of the school, which he held until his death in 1910. He was succeeded by Henri Heurtel . His students included u. a. Eugène Gigout , Émile Bouichère , Edmond Missa and his son-in-law Léon Boëllmann .

Lefèvre composed in addition to songs a. a. a mass, a grand symphony and chamber music works.
