Boulogne-Billancourt [ buˈlɔɲ bijɑ̃ˈkuːʀ ] is a French commune with 120,071 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) southwest of Paris and the main town (French: Sous-Préfecture ) of the Boulogne-Billancourt arrondissement in the Hauts-de-Seine department in the Île region -de-France . The inhabitants are called Boulonnais .
On the one hand, the city is considered to be one of the most elegant suburbs of Paris, on the other hand, towards the south it is also characterized by industrial operations (during the first half of the 20th century the French car manufacturer Renault settled ) and modern, medium-sized apartment blocks. The city is generally considered to be the most important center of inter-war architecture, especially of the 1930s, for all of France.
location
Boulogne-Billancourt borders directly on the 16th arrondissement of the capital to the east and is connected to Paris via numerous transport links. Because of the practically complete development beyond the city limits, Boulogne-Billancourt is also known as the 21st arrondissement of Paris. North of the city is the well-known Bois de Boulogne . Boulogne-Billancourt lies on the right bank of a loop of the river Seine , which limits the place on the other three sides.
history
In 1860 Boulogne was united with the village of Billancourt. There, late 19th century was the first car of Renault emerged. The company is still headquartered there today, as is the Thomson electronics group and Vallourec . The name of the town was changed from Boulogne-sur-Seine in 1924 to its current form Boulogne-Billancourt .
December 2017: One Planet Summit

The city is served by two lines of the Paris Métro , line 9 (stations Marcel Sembat , Billancourt and Pont de Sèvres ) and line 10 (stations Boulogne - Pont de Saint-Cloud and Boulogne - Jean Jaurès ). In addition, the city is connected to Paris and the surrounding area by 20 bus routes operated by the state public transport company RATP .
To the north, between the building and the Bois de Boulogne, in which runs Normandie leading A13 autoroute , which branches off here from the innermost Paris beltway.
