José Lidón

José Lidón (born June 2, 1748 in Béjar , † February 11, 1827 in Madrid ) was a Spanish organist , conductor and composer.

life and work

Lidón became a choirboy in the Royal Chapel in Madrid in 1758 and was a student of José de Nebra and the organist Antonio Literes Montalvo . In 1768 he became organist at Ourense Cathedral and the Royal Chapel of Madrid. From 1805 until his death he was Kapellmeister of the Royal Chapel.

In addition to church music such as masses , oratorios , psalms and lamentations , he composed organ sonatas and fugues as well as stage music.
