Oliver Baumann (born June 2, 1990 in Breisach am Rhein ) is a German soccer goalkeeper who is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

Career

Oliver Baumann played from the F-youth up to the first D-youth year at FC Bad Krozingen . Then he moved to the youth team at SC Freiburg in 2002 . There he reached the finals of the A-Junior Championship with the A-Youth in the 2007/08 season . After they had prevailed in the semi-finals against the U-19s of 1. FC Köln , they won the final against VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 and became German A youth champions. In the following season Baumann and the team won the DFB-Junioren-Vereinspokal 2008/09 with a final victory over Borussia Dortmund , a month later they met Dortmund again in the semi-finals of the A-Junior Championship , but this time they failed.

On August 8, 2009 he played his first game with the amateurs of SC Freiburg against the Stuttgarter Kickers , which ended 0-0. For the amateurs, 19 more games should follow this season. On May 8, 2010, the last game day of the 2009/10 Bundesliga , he made his professional debut in the starting line-up in a 3-1 win against Borussia Dortmund . After that he was the goalkeeper of SC Freiburg for four years . In the 2013/14 season he made three mistakes in the game against HSV, which won the game 3-0; Coach Streich still stuck to Baumann as a regular goalkeeper. The coach's trust paid off on the following match day: Baumann fended off twelve shots on goal (up until then a league record) in a 3-0 away win against 1. FC Nürnberg and was elected player of the match day. On June 10, 2010 he extended his contract with SC Freiburg until 2014, and in summer 2011 for another year.

For the 2014/15 season , Baumann moved to 1899 Hoffenheim TSG . His contract runs until 2023.

National team

Baumann already played in the German U18 and U19 . In 2008 he played in the U18 and played seven games in the U19 from 2008 to 2009. In 2010 he played in the German U20 national team and played two games there. On September 3, 2010 he made his debut in the German U21 against the Czech Republic as part of the European Championship qualification.

On May 28, 2013, Baumann was appointed to the final squad for the 2013 U21 European Championship in Israel by coach Rainer Adrion . On the third day of the match he played his only game in this tournament in a 2-1 win against Russia .

For two games of the UEFA Nations League 2020/21 in September 2020, national coach Löw nominated the keeper for the first time for the A selection .
