Kevin John Ufuoma Akpoguma (born April 19, 1995 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German football player . The central defender is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

Kevin Akpoguma was born the son of a German and a Nigerian in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and began playing football in Speyer ( SpVgg RW 1921 Speyer and SV SW 1934 Speyer ). Via FC Bavaria Wörth (up to D-Jugend) and FC 1908 Neureut , he got into the youth department of Karlsruher SC in summer 2007 .

From the 2010/11 season he played for two years in the U17 Bundesliga (47 games; 9 goals). For the 2012/13 season he was part of the KSC U19 squad, which played in the A-Jugend-Bundesliga , as well as the squad of the first team in the 3rd division . On November 10, 2012, he was standing by the 2: 0 win at home against SV Darmstadt 98 as a central defender in the starting lineup. On January 26, 2013 (23rd matchday), he scored his first goal in a 3-2 win in the away game against VfL Osnabrück with the goal to mean 3-0 in the 55th minute - and was thus at the age of 17 and 282 days to become the youngest scorer in league history to date.

For the 2013/14 season , Akpoguma switched to Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2017, which was extended in April 2015 by two more years to 2019.

For the 2015/16 season he switched to Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan for two years in the 2nd Bundesliga . Then he returned to Hoffenheim. There he made his Bundesliga debut in a 1-1 draw against VfL Wolfsburg on October 22, 2017 , when he came on for Stefan Posch in the 46th minute of the game . In the 3-0 defeat against Hamburger SV on November 26, 2017 (13th matchday), Akpoguma scored an own goal to make it 0-1 for HSV. This was the 1,000th own goal in Bundesliga history.

1 January 2019, changed Akpoguma on loan until the end of season 2018/19 to Hannover 96 . After 4 Bundesliga appearances, he was out with a shoulder injury until the end of the season. After the relegation of Hannover 96 to the 2nd Bundesliga , he left the club with the end of his loan agreement.

His contract in Hoffenheim runs until 2024.

National team

Akpoguma was used five times in the U16 national team . He also played for the U17 team , with whom he took part in the European Championships in Slovenia in the summer of 2012 and finished second. On November 14, 2012, he was used by coach Horst Hrubesch in the international match against Italy as a striker of the U18 - and promptly scored two goals in the game won 3-0. Akpoguma has been a player in the U19 national team since 2013 , with which he became European champion in 2014 , where he was used as a defender . He has been playing in the U20 national team since September 2014 , as its captain he took part in the 2015 World Cup in New Zealand. From 2016 to 2017 Akpoguma played seven times for the German U21 national team .
