Ishak Belfodil ( Arabic إسحاق بلفوضيل, DMG Isḥāq Bilfawḍīl ; * January 12, 1992 in Mostaganem ) is an Algerian - French soccer player who is under contract with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

In his youth, Ishak Belfodil played for various French clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and from 2007 to 2008 Clermont Foot . In 2008 he came to Olympique Lyon and was initially used in the youth teams and in the fourth-class amateur team. On August 22, 2009 he made his debut for the first team in a 3-0 game against AJ Auxerre on the third day of Ligue 1 . He also made his debut in the Champions League three days later .

At the end of January 2012, Belfodil was loaned to the Serie A team FC Bologna for the remainder of the 2011/12 season. The following season he moved to Parma FC , where he scored eight goals in 33 league games.

On July 5, 2013, the striker moved to the Italian club Inter Milan , where he signed a five-year contract. After he was only used irregularly at Inter in the first half of the 2013/14 season , he was loaned to league rivals AS Livorno for the second half of the season . For the 2014/15 season Belfodil moved back to FC Parma.

As of August 31, 2017, Belfodil was on loan from Standard Liège to Werder Bremen . On October 25, 2017, he scored his first competitive goal for Werder in the cup match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He also scored his first league goal in the 2-2 draw against 1. FSV Mainz 05 on December 16, 2017 (17th matchday).

For the 2018/19 season , Belfodil did not return to Liège, but moved within the Bundesliga to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He signed a contract with last year's third and Champions League participant until June 30, 2022. In the 4-0 away win against FC Augsburg on matchday 28 of the 2018/19 season, the Algerian managed his first Bundesliga hat-trick.

National team

In 2009, Belfodil received a French passport and played for various youth national teams in France. With France he took part in the U17 European Championship in 2009 .

In August 2012, Belfodil was nominated for the first time for the senior team of Algeria to qualify for the African Cup of Nations 2013. However, because the association change was only confirmed by FIFA on September 26, 2012, his debut had to be postponed. In the end, he played on August 14, 2013 in a friendly against Guinea that ended 2-2.
